Texas
Mountain Adventures guides take you to the most scenic trails
and back country roads in far West Texas. Many trails have seen
few human visitors until recently. They are quiet and pristine,
and often well away from civilization. Most destinations are
private ranches and preserves where no access is allowed without
a guide.
Among
Texas Mountain Adventures day trips is a spectacular hike to the
top of Mt. Livermore, at 8,378 feet one of the highest points in
Texas and the southern Rockies. Canyons below the peak shelter
groves of aspen, silverleaf oak, Chisos red oak, Southwestern
white pine, ponderosa pine and pinon pine.
Among the critters are mule deer, bobcats, mountain lions,
foxes, coyotes and javelinas.
The Davis Mountains and surrounding Big Bend area of Texas
are recognized by birders as prime venues for a wide variety of
species, some more typically seen in the Sierra Madre of Mexico.
Texas Mountain Adventures arranges birding hikes to match the
habitat and seasonal movement of desirable species.
Prices depend on distance to
trailheads, terrain, location and season. A typical easy to
moderate half-day for a couple, family or small group would be
$100, with prices ranging up to $200 or more for a day trip up
Mt. Livermore with two guides. Please email for more detailed
information. |

Texas Mountains Adventures
was started by Pete Szilagyi of Fort Davis, A Certified
Interpretative Guide.
He has spent several years exploring Colorado, New Mexico and
far West Texas. Pete draws on local guides who are enthusiastic
and trained to make your trip enjoyable and safe. The
guides will show you a part of Texas and the mountain Southwest
that few have seen up close. |
Our guide "was particularly helpful and congenial as well as
knowledgeable. We want to express our appreciation for making our
visit there such a wonderful experience."
